Liverpool returned to the top of the Premier League table on Thursday night after getting the better of Sheffield United at Anfield.

The Reds had dropped to second in the Premier League table on Wednesday night as Arsenal won their midweek game, while Manchester City also kept up the pressure in the race.

Liverpool faced the Blades at Anfield and, while the Reds were heavy favourites to win on paper, the game wasn’t all that straightforward for the hosts.

Darwin Nunez opened the scoring on 17 minutes, but an unfortunate Conor Bradley own goal got the Blades back into the game in the 58th minute.

Liverpool needed a moment of magic to get them back in front, and duly got it through Alexis Mac Allister’s ferocious long-range strike.

Substitutes Andrew Robertson and Cody Gakpo then combined to put the Reds 3-1 up and go back to the summit ahead of the weekend trip to Manchester United.

On Friday, Bradley took to Instagram to laud the “good win last night”, with “all focus to Sunday” in one of the biggest fixtures in the English calendar.

Plenty of fans praised the 20-year-old in the comments, while some of his peers also applauded him following the win over the Blades.

For instance, Alexis Mac Allister responded with emojis of fire and applause, while Virgil van Dijk posted a hands-up emoji.

Jarell Quansah posted a brick wall emoji, Bobby Clark described Bradley as “class”, and Harvey Elliott posted “brother”.

Bradley was unlucky with the own goal, a deflection off his heel from a downward header, the sort of thing that could’ve happened to anyone.

The Anfield academy graduate was bright going forward, often unlocking space inside thanks to his well-timed runs and crosses into the box.

It’s good to see Bradley’s Liverpool teammates rallying round him, and no doubt he’ll be raring to go against the struggling Red Devils on Sunday.
