Arsenal have reportedly tabled a last-ditch offer to keep Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at the club beyond the end of his current deal, which expires in the summer of 2021 – and Alexandre Lacazette has liked a post urging Aubameyang to “sign the ting”.
Aubameyang, 30, has been in excellent form for Arsenal once again this season – scoring 20 goals in 32 league and cup appearances. Since his move to Arsenal in January 2018, Aubameyang has netted a huge 61 goals in 97 games.
However, the £56million (Sun) signing is set to enter the final 12 months of his current contract and that has seen plenty of European heavyweights linked with his signature. Arsenal fans, meanwhile, are desperate to see him remain.
L’Equipe claim – as per The Sun – that Arsenal have made a late attempt to keep Aubameyang with PSG, Real Madrid and Barcelona all lurking. Arsenal fan page @afc.talk urged Aubameyang to “sign” the contract, and Lacazette liked the post.
TBR’s view – Should Aubameyang stay, or go?
Look away Arsenal fans. Arsenal remain in with a shout of European qualification and if Manchester City are banned from the Champions League, fifth place could see an extra Champions League slot awarded.
If Arsenal want to keep Aubameyang, they must qualify for the elite competition. Anything less, including the Europa League, is not enough to satisfy Aubameyang, given that Champions League contenders want to sign him.
