Arsenal cult hero Alexander Hleb has named the Gunners as a team whose style would suit Aleksandr Golovin.
The 42-year-old, who played for Arsenal between 2005 and 2008, believes the Monaco playmaker would be a good fit for the Gunners or Barcelona.
Arsenal are currently well-stocked in terms of attacking midfielders, but there’s always scope to monitor players and assess a potential move.
Golovin is certainly making a name for himself as one of the most effective playmakers in Europe this season.
The 27-year-old has five goals and four assists from just 19 outings in all competitions this term. His efforts have helped Monaco into the top five of the table.

Last season, Golovin clocked up eight goals and eight assists from 45 outings in all competitions. He’s on course to beat that tally if he keeps on the same track.
Arsenal football ‘suits’ Aleksandr Golovin
With Golovin going from strength to strength and in his prime years, Hleb believes a big career move should be in the player’s thoughts. And he reckons Arsenal would fit the bill.
“I know that Aleksandr has become one of the leaders of Monaco and plays good football,” the Arsenal cult hero told Championat. “I liked him before; fast, creative, sees the field well.
“Every footballer wants to reach a higher level. I think that Aleksandr himself will decide where to move.
“If you want to grow, you must move forward. Monaco are a good European team, but they are not at the top.
“If there are offers from top clubs, then it’s time to move on and set higher goals for yourself. But you need to approach this wisely; go where the system suits your style.
“We need a team that plays beautiful combination football. And the main thing is that the coach wants to see you on the team and trusts you. We need to weigh up everything.
“Golovin would fit well into these teams, Barca and Arsenal football suits him.”
Arsenal could well look at Aleksandr Golovin should Emile Smith Rowe move in summer – TBR View
It’s good to see Hleb – a Champions League finalist with Arsenal in 2006 – name-drop his former club as a potential top destination for a player he rates very highly.
It just goes to show how far the Gunners have come in recent years to be considered a top destination for such a player, alongside Barcelona.
However, while Arsenal will likely take heed of Hleb’s comments, they may not need such a player at this moment in time.
Mikel Arteta has Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz and Emile Smith Rowe who can play at No. 10.
However, should Smith Rowe move in the summer, then maybe Arsenal can start keeping tabs on Golovin.
