Liverpool are set to battle Manchester United and Real Madrid for the services of Porto defender Eder Militao, according to the Sun.
They claim that Jurgen Klopp has had the 20-year-old right-back watched this season with a view to triggering his £42.5m release clause with the Portuguese outfit.
The Reds are streets ahead of their bitterest rivals on the pitch right now and are reportedly hoping to land a major blow off it as well, by further bolstering their defence with the Brazilian.
But with Trent Alexander-Arnold developing so well and Joe Gomez able to deputise so ably when fit, Klopp doesn’t need to be embroiled in a big-money battle with United over another right-back.

Klopp is clearly trying to protect Alexander-Arnold, as he has taken him in and out of the side, but he absolutely deserves a free run at being the Reds’ long-term right-back.
Militao is the same age as the England international, and if his versatility is what appeals to Klopp, Gomez is able to play both centrally and out on the right with equal panache.
Also, Militao was reportedly available for just £3m back in the summer, so it remains to be seen whether the hefty release clause represents value for money for the Reds.
