Diminutive winger Alexander Alvarado has told Info Cancha that he is to discuss reported Leeds United’s interest with his agent, and stated that he is a fan of English football.
The 5ft 4in winger has broken into Ecuadorian side SD Aucas in the past couple of years, clocking up 51 appearances for the top-tier outfit. He is also a regular member of Ecuador’s Under-20 side, earning 17 caps.
Last week, Ecuadorian newspaper El Telegrafo claimed Leeds had asked SD Aucas about a deal to land the winger, with the Whites known for their scouting overseas for young talent.
Indeed, Leeds are yet to make an offer and Alvarado is none the wiser about any interest. However, he did state that he would discuss the interest with his agent, and that he is a big fan of English football.

“It’s something that I saw on social media,” Alvarado said, when asked about Leeds. “I have not talked to anyone. In the coming days we [Alvarado and his agent] are going to talk. When an option comes out we will make it public.
“I like it [English football], for what it is, because no team is less than another. If I have to go, I will do it in the best way and if I have to stay in Aucas for a year or six months, I will defend these colours as I have been doing.”
TBR’s view – Alvarado could be Leeds’ new Adryan
Plenty of pace and skill, Alvarado is the definition of South American flair. The last time Leeds brought a player of his ilk to Elland Road was in the form of Adryan, who impressed in glimpses.
He struggled to adapt to the rigours of English football, and although he did show natural talent in spells, his loan did not give him time to get used to the knocks and bruises.
If signed permanently, Alvarado will be afforded that time and he could surpass Adryan.
