Liverpool would boast the best cover in the Premier League at left-back if they were to sign up Alex Telles.
FC Porto star is having a fine season over in Portugal, and apparently is being monitored closely by Reds officials, as reported recently by the Plymouth Herald, who are debating making a £40 million bid.
Telles, a 2016 signing from Galatasaray, has made 90 appearances for his current club and scored five goals.
Last term he won the Primeira Liga, and laid on an impressive 14 assists for teammates from defence. Not only that, but he also added a further six assists in other competitions.
The Metro claimed this summer that Telles was also being watched by Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.
A major upgrade
Were Liverpool to succeed with any official bid in the next transfer window, they will have landed themselves a terrific attacking full-back.
Telles would be a superb upgrade on Alberto Moreno, who is out of favour with Jurgen Klopp.
Signing Telles would mean that Liverpool could boast the strongest cover at the left-back in the Premier League, with Andy Robertson now one of the finest in the division.
Teams that want to win the Premier League must have good depth.
The best teams have brilliant starting players and players that can come in and do jobs when the fixtures come thick and fast, or to cover injuries.
Telles would easily be good enough to start. Klopp would have a selection headache on his hands if this shock rumour actually became something more.
