Alex Rae has told the Glasgow Evening Times that he believes linking up with ex-Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City would be a “good move” for Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos.
Morelos, 22, has amassed an enormous 28 goals in all competitions this season. He has also proved somewhat creative, adding 10 assists. It has seen interest in the Colombia international become rife.
Sky Sports reported on Tuesday that Brendan Rodgers was to make a sensational move to sign Morelos from Rangers, after just leaving Celtic to join Leicester. Borussia Dortmund are also said to be keen.
Former Rangers man Rae compared Morelos to ex-Celtic striker Dembele, as well as stating that a move to Leicester and teaming up with Rodgers would benefit the former HJK Helsinki striker.

“He is [just as good as Dembele]. Look at the goals he has got this year. He is 22 and the development he has undergone in the last year has been remarkable,” Rae said.
“I think he will go to a stepping stone club,” he said. “A club like Leicester would be a good move. Look at van Dijk and Wanyama – that is the career path Morelos will be looking to take. He won’t go from Rangers straight to a top four or top six team.”
TBR’s view
While we agree that a move to a club like Leicester is ideal for Morelos, teaming up with Rodgers is not. The hate Rodgers has received from Celtic fans since leaving the Scottish champions has been non-stop.
If the Northern Irishman decides to raid Rangers for Morelos, the hatred for the Colombian and indeed Rodgers from both parts of Glasgow would be twice fold. To remain loved at Ibrox, Morelos should avoid Leicester.
Dortmund would be a good move considering the German side’s faith in youth – Jadon Sancho, for example. While in the Premier League, perhaps a club like Everton or Wolves – who both need a striker.
