Alex Neil has suggested, in comments reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post, that he believes that Marcelo Bielsa’s best attribute may be the way that he improves players as he went on to make a claim about the Leeds United squad.
The Whites travel to Deepdale to face Neil’s Preston North End side on Tuesday. It is a game that pits two of the division’s top six against each other.

Leeds currently sit second after beating Birmingham City 1-0 at Elland Road on Saturday. Meanwhile, Preston have fallen to sixth after losing to Reading.
And ahead of the game, Neil outlined what impresses him most about the man who will be in the opposite technical area later today.

“It is not necessarily the depth of research he does on opponents, it is more the understanding his players have of their roles,” he said about Bielsa, as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post. “They have a lot of players who have played at this level for a long time and they have been decent players.
“But I think a lot of them now are better than decent players.”

There has been a remarkable improvement from a number of Leeds players. Kalvin Phillips stepping up to the Premier League now looks inevitable, while the likes of Stuart Dallas and Liam Cooper appear to be playing on a different level.
Bielsa’s tenure has seen expectations rise again. Leeds fans now expect promotion, particularly after the club came so close last year.
They have made a promising start to the new season. The Whites are arguably not playing as fluently as they were at this time last year.
And the supporters are nervously waiting to find out whether their form is a sign that they are not quite as good as last season, or a sign that they are building and going to peak at the perfect time this time around.
