Everton winger Alex Iwobi believes Carlo Ancelotti is similar to his former manager at Arsenal, Arsene Wenger.
The star has only turned out a couple of times for the Italian having recently struggled with a hamstring injury, but he’s spent enough time with him behind the scenes to note the Italian operates in a similar fashion to the legendary ex-Gunners boss.
Speaking to The Liverpool Echo, he said: “They are almost the same, thinking about it.
“They are both very patient, they are not men of many words but when they do say something there is a lot of wisdom. They are almost the same.
“They both like to play football; it is almost like I am working with the same man.
“It’s not like I’m back at Arsenal with Arsene Wenger but it’s almost the same philosophy and I can buy into it easily and adapt to his plans straight away.”
Ancelotti has made a decent start to life at Goodison Park – since arriving in December, the three-time Champions League winner has dragged the Toffees up the table and has a Premier League record of four wins, two draws and just one defeat.
The club now sit ninth and are just one win away from the European places.
TBR’s view – Time for Iwobi to step up
Iwobi says he can ‘easily’ buy into Ancelotti’s style having worked with Wenger, and it is now time for him to prove his worth at Goodison.
Following his big-money move last summer, which could reach £34 million as reported by BBC Sport, it’s been a pretty lukewarm start for the Nigeria international.
Fans have undoubtedly not yet seen the 23-year-old at his best, but with the Wenger-like Ancelotti now guiding him, he could soon be about to announce himself on Merseyside.
