Alex Iwobi and Yannick Bolasie react to news coming out of Everton yesterday

Yannick Bolasie and Alex Iwobi have reacted to Lewis Dobbin’s Instagram post after the forward left Everton on loan.

The 19-year-forward has joined Derby County on his first loan move away from Goodison Park on a season-long loan.

The England under-19 international was around Frank Lampard’s first team squad last season, making three Premier League appearances off the bench.

The connection between Lampard and Derby was one of the reasons Dobbin chose to join Derby, saying: “I was in his office a couple of times and he told me what a great club Derby County is and how I would benefit coming here. He was really happy for me to be here and encouraged me a lot.”

Dobbin’s versatility could see him slot straight into Derby’s starting line-up, with Tom Barkhuizen starting their last game on the left wing, an unfamiliar role for the 29-year-old and one that Dobbin has primarily played at under-23 level.

Dobbin posted the news of his move to the Rams on Instagram with the message: “Buzzing to be here for the new season on loan. Can’t wait to get going and meet you Rams!”

He received plenty of support from fans and other players, including Everton teammate Alex Iwobi and former Toffee Yannick Bolasie.

Everton’s forward options going into the start of the season are sparse, and there was perhaps an argument that Dobbin should have stayed at Goodison Park until these improved.

Richarlison was sold to Tottenham Hotspur at the start of the transfer window, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin has now picked up an injury days before the Premier League kicks off.

Everton are working on bringing in reinforcements, with Chelsea forward Armando Broja one name mentioned, although a deal doesn’t appear to be happening very quickly.

Back-up striker Salomon Rondon is also suspended, leaving Lampard very short of options at centre-forward. This isn’t a concern for Dobbin right now though, who has a trip to Charlton Athletic at the weekend to concentrate on.
