Alex Crook says 'sensational' Aaron Ramsdale could be England number one next year
Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale delivered another fine performance for the Gunners yesterday as they saw off local rivals, Tottenham Hotspur.
Ramsdale was a somewhat controversial signing among the Gunners fans when he signed from Sheffield United in the summer. Mikel Arteta and Edu opted to spend around £30m on the England man at the time. However, it’s already looking like money well spent.
The 23-year-old might have conceded his first goal as Arsenal ‘keeper late in the day yesterday. But he also made a fine save just after, while his energy is clearly effecting his teammates.
And according to regular Talksport journalist and pundit, Alex Crook, Ramsdale can become England number one for the World Cup in Qatar.
“I think he’s been sensational. Not just the save, but the reaction was Peter Schmeichel-like. He’s a great leader,” Crook said on Talksport.
“He’s a great goalkeeper. He might be England number one for the World Cup. There you go, I’m going to chuck it out there.”
TBR’s View: Ramsdale shining for Arsenal but work to be done
While Ramsdale is doing very well for Arsenal, you have to remember how quickly things can change for a goalkeeper. A mistake or two can see them hit rock bottom as quickly as they rise to the top.
So far, things have gone perfect for Ramsdale. He’s made some big saves, but on the flipside, he’s not been massively tested yet either.
Tougher days await Ramsdale, that’s for sure. But that’s not to take anything away from a goalkeeper who is proving everyone wrong already.
