Alessandro Del Piero says Harry Kane is an incredible player
Alessandro Del Piero has told talkSPORT that he is a massive fan of Harry Kane, suggesting that the Tottenham Hotspur talisman is an incredible player.
Kane is yet to really get going during the World Cup after England’s first two games. Of course, he went into the tournament looking to become the first player to win the Golden Boot in different years.
Unfortunately, the 29-year-old has failed to find the back of the net against both Iran and the United States. And having picked up a knock in the opening game, there is surely a question mark over whether he should start against Wales in their final group clash.
Del Piero says Harry Kane is incredible
England have an amazing amount of depth in attack. But clearly, their hopes of glory in Qatar may well depend on whether Kane finds some scoring form in the remaining games in the tournament.
Someone who expects Kane to come good is Del Piero. The Italy legend – and 2006 World Cup winner – was full of praise for how much the Spurs star brings to the side.
“Harry is the kind of guy who works a lot for the team, especially the national team. I remember in the final of the Euros, he was taking the ball from the defender and you scored the first goal. So he’s a little bit more than a striker. He can play in different positions, helps the team a lot,” he told talkSPORT.
“He’s an incredible player. I like him very much.”
Obviously, Kane has not got too long to bounce back from his sluggish start in front of goal. But he will know better than most that everything can turnaround quite quickly.
Kane used to be accused of being a slow starter in each Premier League season. And yet, he would often end the campaign as one of the leading goalscorers in the competition.
And it must not be forgotten that Kane provided two assists in the 6-2 win over Iran. So he is not playing poorly.
England will almost certainly be in the knockout stages. So there is every chance that Kane will open his tally in the very near future.
