Alejandro Grimaldo would be a dream Arsenal signing

Unai Emery has enjoyed a decent start to life in management at the Emirates Stadium and is trying to piece together the Arsenal puzzle to help return them to their glory days.

The Spanish boss is already beginning to impose his possession-based and attacking style on his team, but there are still a few areas that need fixing.

One main position that the Gunners needs to address is at left-back, where in truth the best option may be to sign a new full-back in the next transfer window.

Nacho Monreal and Stephan Lichtsteiner aren’t the long-term solutions in defence for Emery, while Sead Kolasinac looks a bit flaky when he features.

Arsenal should plot an ambitious move for Benfica defender Alejandro Grimaldo, as he would be a dream signing and could be the answer to their left-back woes.

The 23-year-old is a Spanish flyer that is excelling in the Portuguese league with Benfica, while also playing Champions League football this season.

He has all the traits of a modern-day full-back with his excellent pace and dribbling, which should make him an ideal fit for Emery’s system.

Grimaldo has defensive qualities too that make him hard to beat out wide and the full-back is a highly-rated talent capable of performing at the top level.

Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin has rediscovered his form under Emery already and the North London club could be a real force if they have Grimaldo bombing on forward from the opposite flank.

He is still under contract with Benfica until 2021 and it may be ambitious trying to sign him, but they should tempt the player with a move to the Premier League.
