Chelsea are expected to sign Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United this summer, less than a year on from when the South American angered two of his teammates against the Blues.

Enzo Maresca’s team have recruited heavily already this summer, completing eight deals.

More incomings are expected at Stamford Bridge before the September 1 deadline, however.

One man who should be on their way to West London very soon is Manchester United winger, Alejandro Garnacho.

TBR Football revealed this week that Chelsea want to sign Garnacho and Xavi Simons before the 2025/26 Premier League season gets underway.

The Blues will pay around £50m for the Argentine, and will be hoping he performs much better than he did when Man Utd and Chelsea met in 2024.

Alejandro Garnacho left £82.8m Man Utd duo ‘furious’ vs Chelsea

The Premier League powerhouses clashed twice in the 2024/25 season, with Marc Cucurella scoring the only goal of the game in their last tie at Stamford Bridge on May 16.

Prior to that, Chelsea and Manchester United faced off at Old Trafford on November 3, 2024.

The points were shared as Moises Caicedo’s 74th-minute strike cancelled out Bruno Fernandes’ penalty four minutes prior.

During said fixture, incoming Chelsea signing Garnacho angered two of his Man Utd teammates with his actions across the 90 minutes.

A report from Sky Sports at the time shared how Casemiro, who set Utd back £70m, and Noussair Mazraoui, who arrived last year for £12.8m, were left annoyed at the winger’s efforts on the day.

During the 85th minute of the match, Sky’s live commentary feed stated: “Casemiro has to chase back to deal with a counter after Garnacho loses possession. Neto gets wiped out. And Casemiro is furious with Garnacho.”

Moments later, journalist Melissa Reddy questioned Garnacho’s work ethic after he ignored shouts from Mazraoui to track back.

She wrote: “Mazraoui shouting at Garnacho twice to get back and help him with no success.

“There are a few players who need to watch how hard their attacking contemporaries work at Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham.”

Gary Neville warned Manchester United against Alejandro Garnacho swap deal with Chelsea

Chelsea have been linked to Garnacho for some time now, with the London outfit showing interest during the most recent January transfer window.

At the time, a potential swap deal between the South American and Christopher Nkunku was mooted.

But Gary Neville was against a Garnacho swap deal, saying in January: “I don’t get it for United. Nkunku’s hardly kicked a ball, he’s had the injury when he first came and struggled to get going at Chelsea.

“I’m not saying Garnacho is the best player in the world, he needs to stay at Manchester United, but if they get good money for him that might work.

“But to swap him for Nkunku, I would have to say that isn’t a move I would do if I was Manchester United. I can see why you would do it if you were Chelsea.”

Garnacho ended 24/25 with 11 goals and 10 assists across all competitions, while Nkunku netted 14 and assisted five.
