Cole Palmer has been Chelsea’s standout talent since signing from Manchester City, with Alejandro Garnacho and Pedro Neto now told what they must do to impact a game like the 23-year-old.
Palmer is a generational talent, with his 18 goals and 14 assists in all competitions last season helping the Blues achieve Club World Cup and Europa Conference League success.
However, the Chelsea midfielder has been injured for much of 2025/26, notching just 235 minutes of action due to a groin problem.
In his stead, players like Alejandro Garnacho and Pedro Neto have been tasked with filling the void, and have now been told what they need to start doing to emulate the England international.

Alejandro Garnacho and Pedro Neto told how they can emulate Cole Palmer at Chelsea
TalkSPORT pundit Matisse Armani was dissecting Chelsea’s recent struggles alongside former player Jason Cundy this week when he highlighted how Neto and Garnacho’s game differs from Palmer’s.
He said: “You know, we talk about Cole Palmer playing on the right wing and then against PSG and other teams when he was having his best season coming into the 10 and combining, connecting, taking shots.
“You don’t see that from Neto. You don’t see that from Garnacho.”
After leaving Manchester United this summer, Garnacho scored his first Chelsea goal on Saturday in a 2-1 defeat to Sunderland.
As for Neto, he has two goals and two assists in 12 matches across all competitions this season.
Neither has been able to match Palmer on the goal contribution front since their arrivals, and unfortunately for Enzo Maresca, he will be without his star man for a little while longer.
Enzo Maresca gives Cole Palmer injury update
Chelsea face Wolves in a Carabao Cup meeting on Wednesday evening.
Ahead of that tie, the Italian provided a fresh injury update on Palmer, and it’s not great news.
He said: “I was wrong. Unfortunately, he needs to be out probably six more weeks.
“Yes, absolutely [he still doesn’t need surgery]. We try just to protect Cole as much as we can and the most important thing is that.
“Unfortunately, the medical staff, they are not magicians, they never know that you probably need six weeks. We hope that six weeks, they are enough, but it’s a problem that we need to see step by step, week after week, but for sure he’s going to be okay.”
