It’s no secret that Tottenham want a new striker this summer.
Spurs are ready to strengthen the squad for Ange Postecoglou after they fell away from Champions League contention last season.
A number of positions are up for debate in the Spurs XI, while squad depth is also high on the agenda of the Tottenham boss.
Of course, adding a new striker is one of the top priorities. Spurs have never really replaced Harry Kane or used the money they got either, so there is an opening this summer.
Indeed, reports today have even suggested a deal to sign Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez is close to being done as Spurs ramp up their interest in targets.
However, writing for Football.London, Tottenham specialist journalist Alasdair Gold has given a rather different take on proceedings when it comes to Gimenez.

Why Santiago Gimenez won’t be signing for Tottenham despite reports
Gold covers a host of strikers in the article and suggests there is interest in a number of players.
However, when it comes to Gimenez, it doesn’t look like Tottenham will be getting that done anytime soon.
“Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez is not believed to be on the shortlist, despite frequent links to the club,” Gold writes.
“The 23-year-old Mexican netted 23 goals this season in the Eredivisie and was spotted at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium watching a game last season, believed to be as the guest of an agent rather than invited by the club.”
For Tottenham fans excited by those initial reports, it seems that Gold has come in and simply put the fire out here.
Of course, you never know in football and in the rapidly changing world of a transfer window, there’s every chance that Gimenez does suddenly become a target.
The likes of Ivan Toney, Dominic Solanke and more are also mentioned in the report, with Lille’s Jonathan David considered a realistic option as well.
