Timo Werner joined Tottenham on loan earlier this month.
The German striker arrived at Spurs on loan from RB Leipzig with a £15m option to buy, and, by the sounds of it, Spurs may well be considering taking up that option.
Indeed, according to Alasdair Gold, speaking on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast, the words being uttered around Tottenham seem to suggest that Spurs are already thinking of Werner as a long-term player rather than just a six-month stopgap option that this loan deal suggested he could be.

Werner already seen as long-term option
Gold shared what he’s been hearing about the attacker.
“I don’t get the impression that Postecoglou takes people to have them for a few months kind of guy. He wants people invested in the system, even Werner, the words around, the way Werner is speaking and the way Postecoglou speaks about him, it sounds like they’re already thinking he’s there for the long-term rather than just this season,” Gold said.
Makes sense
This would make a lot of sense.
Even if Werner doesn’t produce that much over the next 6 months, £15m for a Champions League-winning German international who can play in multiple positions is a good deal at any time.
Making that move permanent is a no-brainer. It will provide Spurs will some solid cover both down the left wing and in the striking position, and it can be done on the cheap.
£15m really isn’t much these days, and having Werner around for the foreseeable future would certainly alleviate a lot of the squad depth problems Tottenham could potentially face in an attacking sense going forwards.
By the sounds of it, Werner on a permanent deal could be Spurs’ first signing of the summer window, and that certainly wouldn’t be a bad way to start things off.
