Alan Thompson has told Read Celtic that the Scottish champions should do all they can to bring Bournemouth winger Jordon Ibe to Parkhead, claiming the winger “fits the bill” for Neil Lennon’s side.
The Scottish Sun claimed earlier this month that Celtic are keen on signing 24-year-old Ibe this summer, and could even land the former Liverpool winger on a free transfer. That is because Ibe, who cost Bournemouth £15million (Sun), is out of contract.
Celtic are likely to be after a winger in the summer, with Mo Elyounoussi only on loan and Maryan Shved struggling to break into the side. Lennon is expected to go back into the market to sign Ibe this summer.
Celtic icon Thompson believes a move to sign the ex-Liverpool man would be an excellent signing for Celtic, claiming he’s got the potential to be a good player and is confident the former England youth international would suit the Scottish champions.

“I’ve not seen much or Jordon for a while as he’s not had a lot of game time at Bournemouth but I knew him when he was younger and he’s definitely got potential to be a good player,” Thompson said.
“Bournemouth have got a wealth of good forwards so it can be tough for a young lad like him [to get regular game time] but I definitely think that he could be someone who fits the bill for Celtic.”
TBR’s view – Ibe would be an excellent signing for Celtic
It must be remembered that Ibe was deemed good enough to break into the Liverpool senior team and clock up 58 senior outings. Not only that, but Ibe has already played 119 times in the Premier League.
His future at Bournemouth is over, no question. Ibe needs a club where he can regain his confidence and in the lesser Scottish Premiership, playing for a team like Celtic would vastly improve his self-belief – as well as benefitting Celtic.
On a free, he is a top addition.
