Alan Thompson has taken to Twitter to poke fun at Rangers despite their Scottish Premiership title success, after Celtic failed to beat Dundee United on Sunday afternoon – teasing the Gers over their lack of trophies over the past decade.

Steven Gerrard has masterminded Rangers’ first title win in 10 years – winning their first league title since returning to the top flight under Mark Warburton in 2016-17. In the mean time, Celtic have won more or less everything.

Indeed, Celtic earned a never-done-before quadruple treble – a run of silverware that was eventually ended when St. Johnstone beat Livingston in the Scottish League Cup final in February. Gerrard had not won anything before Sunday.

Now, he has finally won some silverware – his first league title in professional football having famously failed to do so at Liverpool. But ex-Celtic man Thompson has teased Rangers over their lack of trophies, with this post on Twitter.

Rangers still have plenty of matches to play this season – and accolades to win. Indeed, Rangers remain in the chase to go unbeaten throughout 2020-21. Indeed, in their 32 Scottish Premiership games, they have conceded just nine goals this term.

While in Europe, everything is to play for. On Thursday, they face a crucial clash against Slavia Prague – with a place in the last eight of the Europa League up for grabs. The draw has been somewhat kind to Rangers, but they will need to be at their best.

Plenty to play for, but they deserve praise for their title success.
