Alan Smith suggests Arsenal player is better than Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi
Alan Smith has told Sky Sports News that he believes Arsenal teenager Bukayo Saka is a better option for Gareth Southgate ahead of Euro 2021 than Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi, despite the latter returning to the Chelsea side under Thomas Tuchel.
Saka, 19, has been sensational for Arsenal once again this season – having a hand in seven goals during his 20 Premier League appearances. Being used as a number 10, on the left or on the right, Saka is strengthening his claims for a Euro 2021 place.
Hudson-Odoi has one less cap than Saka for England, picking up three under Gareth Southgate. But he has been out of form and game time of late, with Frank Lampard overlooking him. Tuchel has brought him back into the side and he has impressed.
Discussing whether Southgate will allow some of his younger players to represent the England Under-21 side in March, ex-Arsenal man Smith thinks he will pick Saka over the likes of Hudson-Odoi – labelling Saka s a natural talent.
