Alan Shearer has been extremely positive about Arsenal star Emile Smith Rowe in the wake of his latest performance.
The 20-year-old academy graduate has been one of the standout players in the first-team this season, something that very few would have expected.
He’s one of a few youngsters to breathe some fresh lift into a team that had been smuggling.
Smith Rowe’s promotion to the XI has coincided with a five-game unbeaten streak in the league.
The Gunners have 13 points out a possible 15 in the Premier League games that the attacking midfielder has played this season, which shows what kind of impact he’s making.
He’s made the central number 10 position his own, where he’s been linking up well with striker Alexandre Lacazette, as well as with fellow youngster Bukayo Saka.
Shearer raved about Smith Rowe after his display in Monday night’s 3-0 win over Newcastle United.
“This guy [Smith-Rowe] is a breath of fresh air. His attitude. The way he approaches the game. The way he wants to work. His ability with and without the ball,” Smith Rowe told Premier League productions.
“So, I think it’s been a huge step forward for not only him. But it’s no coincidence that Arsenal’s form is where it is when he has been in the team.”
Smith Rowe was once again one of the standout players on the pitch last night, as he assisted teammate Saka for his goal.
The English playmaker is playing with speed, creativity and bravery to get fans excited.
Shearer points out that he’s got work-rate both on and off the ball, which is something that he perhaps doesn’t get credit for yet.
But like so many of the younger players, they are willing to run their socks off for 90 minutes to try impress manager Mikel Arteta.
