Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer believes Kieran Tripper is the best right-back in England – ahead of Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold and Chelsea’s Reece James.
The Englishman has been brilliant for the Magpies since he joined them in January this year. He cost just £12 million (Sky Sports), and he is up there among their best buys in recent history.

Alan Shearer thinks Newcastle star Kieran Tripper is England’s best right-back
Newcastle were absolutely on fire against Aston Villa at the weekend.
The Magpies smashed four at St James’ Park, and Trippier was solid from the first minute to the last. The Englishman picked up an assist as well – his third of the season – and Shearer was really impressed.
The Newcastle icon raved about the 32-year-old. He included Trippier in his Team of the Week on the Premier League’s official website and went on to claim that he is England’s best right-back at the moment.
Shearer wrote: “Another assist!
“Another solid performance in front of Gareth Southgate by England’s best right-back.”
That is a big claim ahead of the World Cup in Qatar later this month.

TBR View:
Gareth Southgate has a lot of decisions to make.
James, Tripper and Alexander-Arnold are expected to be the three that make the cut, but the former is currently injured while the Liverpool superstar has been woeful since the start of the season.
Arsenal star Ben White has been sensational, and there will be a lot of pressure on Southgate to select him over one of the three other right-backs.
It will be interesting to see who England’s first-choice right-back will be in Qatar, but if Trippier continues to perform as well as he has been, it won’t be a shock at all to see him start.
