Alan Shearer says Spurs have an 'amazing' player in their ranks, expects clubs to be after him
Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has been described as an “amazing” player by Alan Shearer, who also thinks the Spurs star will be on the radar of “the biggest teams” this summer.
Kane has enjoyed another outstanding campaign, registering 31 goals and 16 assists in all competitions, with 21 goals and 13 assists coming in the Premier League.
However, his wait for a first major trophy continues in wake of a lacklustre campaign for Spurs in which European qualification remains in the balance.
Kane also continues to deliver for England, with 34 goals in 53 games including two goals and an assist from his last two.
Writing in The Athletic, Shearer gave his verdict on who Gareth Southgate should pick in his squad for this summer’s European Championships.
Looking at England’s attacking options, he said: “This is where there’s real excitement, real anticipation, for England.
“The rest of the football world will already be talking about these players and I haven’t even mentioned Harry yet, who will doubtless have the biggest teams chasing him this summer.
“His track record speaks for itself, an amazing player and an absolute guarantee of goals.”
Spurs fans surely won’t want to hear any more speculation about Kane – either on the rumour mill or from pundits.
Thing is, when you’ve got such a disparity between a player’s quality and his team’s quality, then rumours and speculation will persist.
Kane is the best striker in the world, in the prime of his career, turns 30 in just over two years, and is playing for a club that hasn’t won a trophy since 2008 and is need of a major rebuild.
Surely if ever there was a summer where he would sit down and really consider his options, this one would be it?
