Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has been named in Alan Shearer’s latest Premier League Team of the week thanks to his efforts for the Whites last time out.
Marcelo Bielsa’s charges held Manchester United to a 0-0 draw at Elland Road on Sunday, with Phillips putting in a superb display for his boyhood club.
The 25-year-old repeatedly snuffed out opposition attacks, made numerous big tackles, recovered the ball plenty of times, and weighed in with several interceptions and clearances.
Phillips also contributed from an attacking perspective, making plenty of superb passes and creating chances for his teammates.

His efforts earned him a spot in Shearer’s XI, with Leeds teammate Pascal Struijk also making the cut.
“A really energetic display,” the former Newcastle and England star wrote on the Premier League website.
“Leeds’ midfield was far more robust than in their 6-2 defeat in the reverse fixture.”
The result meant Leeds have picked up five points from three consecutive games against elite opposition, having won 2-1 at Manchester City and playing out a 1-1 draw with Liverpool.
Up next for the Whites is Saturday’s Premier League trip to Brighton.
