'Bossed': Alan Shearer seriously impressed with Arsenal man against Brentford this weekend

Alan Shearer has picked three Arsenal players in his team of the week this weekend, with one of those being midfielder Granit Xhaka.

The Swiss star was once again key in the middle of the park as Arsenal ran riot at Brentford to banish last season’s demons. Goals from Gabriel Jesus, Fabio Vieira, and William Saliba ensured a fine three points for the Gunners. Of course, Arsenal’s start has been a joy to behold. They sit top of the PL table, a point clear of both Manchester City and local rivals, Tottenham.

Mikel Arteta will be a happy man. He is seeing his best players perform while all his summer signings are contributing as well. And one of this players hitting new heights is Xhaka, who Alan Shearer felt ‘bossed’ the midfield this weekend.

Picking him in for the Premier League website’s official team of the week, Shearer picked Xhaka alongside Saliba and Jesus, commenting on the Swiss star’s contribution.

“Bossed the midfield from start to finish,” Shearer wrote about Xhaka.

There have certainly been times in the past when the word ‘bossed’ to describe a Xhaka performance would appear a bit far-fetched. But purely on this season’s efforts, Xhaka is certainly delivering those performances.

TBR’s View: Xhaka Like A New Man For Arsenal

There was a time not so long ago where Arsenal fans wanted rid of Granit Xhaka. Ill-discipline, poor performances, and a bit of an attitude at times appeared to be bringing his time in London to an end.

But fast forward to now and Xhaka really is the the real deal for Arsenal. He’s playing with maturity and quality, and with young players around him, seems to be thriving.

Xhaka has been superb for Arsenal and he rightly deserves his place in the team of the week from Shearer.
