Alan Shearer says Everton star provides 'so much energy'

Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure has made Alan Shearer’s latest Premier League Team of the Week.

The Toffees got back to winning ways at the weekend following two consecutive defeats in all competitions.

Everton fell to a 3-0 loss at Aston Villa on 18 September before QPR knocked the Blues out of the Carabao Cup on penalties.

But on Saturday, Rafa Benitez’s charges got three points on board as they beat Norwich 2-0 at Goodison Park.

Andros Townsend opened the scoring with a 29th-minute penalty after Ozan Kabak caught Allan on the thigh inside the area.

Doucoure then wrapped up the victory in the 77th minute, clinically slotting home after being set up by Demarai Gray.

The 28-year-old was Whoscored’s Man of the Match, with a score of 7.80.

Doucoure clocked up some impressive stats aside from his goal.

He had two shots, got 76 touches of the ball, made four tackles, two clearances, and 58 passes at 87.9 percent accuracy.

The Frenchman’s efforts throughout the game saw him make Shearer’s XI, the only Everton player to make the cut.

“He provided so much energy in the middle and scored a good goal, timing his run perfectly and finishing well,” wrote the Premier League legend.

The result saw Everton finish matchday sixth in sixth place.

They are level on points with Brighton, Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City.

Up next for the Toffees is the Red Devils at Old Trafford next Saturday in a 12:30pm kickoff.
