Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has been named in Alan Shearer’s latest Premier League Team of the Week.
The Gunners ace put in a superb performance at the weekend as Mikel Arteta’s charges left Manchester United with all three points and a clean sheet.
Gabriel was solid at the back, keeping the strong opposition attack of Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood at bay successfully, and repelling everything that came his way.

The 22-year-old – who was walking a tightrope early on after being booked for a foul on Rashford – also made a decisive tackle late on to deny Nemanja Matic in the penalty area.
In a tight game decided by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s second-half penalty, a tight defence proved absolutely crucial for the visitors in their first away win at Old Trafford since 2006.
Gabriel and Thomas Partey both made the cut in Shearer’s Team of the Week.
Of the Brazilian, the Premier League legend wrote: “Kept Manchester United’s twin threat of Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood very quiet on a memorable afternoon for Arsenal. Another impressive signing.”
Of Gabriel’s fellow new arrival, Shearer said: “Partey was magnificent and looks to be developing a great partnership with Mohamed Elneny. He could prove to be a brilliant signing.”
TBR View:
While Partey was Arsenal’s most high-profile signing of the transfer window just gone, Gabriel is also rightfully being recognised as a superb signing and one of several Arteta masterstrokes this year.
With Aubameyang penning a new contract, some great arrivals at the Emirates Stadium and former fringe players – Rob Holding and Elneny, for example – now becoming crucial first-teamers, things are looking great in the red half of North London.
