Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has made it into Alan Shearer’s latest Premier League Team of the Week.
The Gunners midfielder played an instrumental role as Mikel Arteta‘s charges ran out 5-0 winners at Burnley on Saturday.
Odegaard opened the scoring for Arsenal with a well-taken effort from outside the box after Gabriel Martinelli whipped the ball into his path.
After Bukayo Saka coolly slotted in a penalty before the break, Odegaard assisted the 22-year-old with a defence-splitting through-ball for his second.

The £30million man’s heroics on the day have led to Shearer naming him in his latest XI of the week alongside two other Arsenal players, plus Arteta as manager of the week.
”Excellent finish to give Arsenal the lead,” the Newcastle United legend wrote on the Premier League website. “He was simply outstanding.”
Saka and Jakub Kiwior were also in the XI to give Arsenal the highest representation in Shearer’s team this week.
Martin Odegaard and Arsenal both going from strength to strength
Arsenal really seem to be moving up the gears and Odegaard, who’s arguably the most in-form player in the Premier League right now, delivered another great display.
The Norway international has come a very long way since joining the Gunners, and he is not only living up to the potential he had as a young prodigy, but going above and beyond.
Arsenal are right back in the title picture and it’ll be exciting to see how they continue to fare in arguably one of the most exciting top-flight championship races in recent years.
As one of the Gunners’ youngest captains in recent years, let’s hope Odegaard will soon get the chance to lift the biggest trophies in English and European football.
Odegaard is extremely likely to start for Arsenal on Wednesday as they make their long-awaited return to the Champions League knockout stages.
The Gunners face Porto away in their last-16 first leg.
