Alan Shearer has taken to Twitter to offer his reaction to Newcastle United’s Premier League draw with Brentford, labelling the Magpies’ defending so bad.

Newcastle were dealt a blow ahead of the contest with Eddie Howe unable to attend the game. Jason Tindall led the side from the touchline following Howe’s appointment during the international break.

Ultimately, it proved to a stunning and enthralling clash at St James’ Park. The home side took the lead inside 10 minutes thanks to Jamaal Lascelles.

However, Ivan Toney came back to haunt his former club moments later. And Brentford then went in front through Rico Henry.

Joelinton equalised for Newcastle six minutes before the break. Fans will be hoping that that is a sign of what is to come from the Brazilian under Howe.

But the Bees would then go back in front on the hour-mark with Lascelles scoring at the other end this time.

Thankfully, Allan Saint-Maximin proved that he is ready to remain Newcastle’s saviour, scoring the sixth and final goal of the game to ensure that the points were shared.
