Manchester United and Chelsea are set to lock horns for a huge Premier League encounter this Sunday.

With Ruben Amorim set to take charge on 11 November, Ruud van Nistelrooy will manage Manchester United for their next three games ahead of the international break.

The Red Devils are up against a Chelsea side whose form has been up and down in recent weeks and lost to Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup last time out.

Premier League legend Alan Shearer has now predicted how Man United and Chelsea will fare at Old Trafford in Sunday’s 4:30pm kick-off.

Alan Shearer backs Manchester United and Chelsea to play out score draw

Shearer, writing on Metro, has predicted a score draw between the Red Devils and the Blues, backing the hosts to “get something out of this game” now Ten Hag has left.

“When a manager leaves and another comes in, there’ll be a different atmosphere, a renewed hope and belief at Old Trafford on Sunday, with or without Amorim, especially after Man United scored five goals in the Carabao Cup,” wrote Shearer.

“There’ll be more hope going into the game this weekend than there was last week against West Ham and that could really energise the players on the pitch.

“I was at St James’ for Chelsea’s trip in midweek, and it was a completely changed team from the league game between the two, and the side he puts out against Man United will be different again.

“It’s a tough one to call and probably why I’ll go for a score draw.

“I fancy both teams to score because both teams can improve defensively, and the added detail of a new manager in the dugout at Old Trafford for the first in the Premier League, whether that’s Ruben or Ruud, means Man Utd can get something out of this game.”

Manchester United v Chelsea team news

Ruud van Nistelrooy did not provide any injury updates at his Thursday press conference.

However, BBC Sport speculated that Anthony, Harry Maguire, Kobbie Mainoo, Tyrell Malacia, Mason Mount, Luke Shaw and Leny Yoro could all be unavailable once again.

All seven players missed Wednesday’s Carabao Cup win against Leicester City.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have no fresh injury concerns ahead of their trip to Old Trafford, with only Jadon Sancho unavailable as he’s ineligible to play against his parent club.
