In a typically incomplete performance by Manchester United against Newport County today, Alan Shearer noticed one very unhappy player.
Erik ten Hag has rarely seen his side free-flowing and fluid in their attacking displays of late, but it must have proved a relief that they could turn it on at League Two opposition in the first half at least.

Bruno Fernandes struck a superb opener after some good work by Antony down the left.
Young star Kobbie Mainoo then quickly made it 2-0 only for Bryn Morris to score a deflected reply before half time.
And when analysing the game at half time on the BBC’s coverage, Alan Shearer noticed one United player wasn’t so happy despite the scoreline.
Shearer pointed out a moment when Alejandro Garnacho did well down Man United’s left, but failed to square it to a furious Bruno Fernandes.
The pundit instantly noticed how fuming both Bruno and Rasmus Hojlund were with their young teammate for shooting instead of passing.
Shearer was discussing the matter with Gary Lineker live on air, and the duo struggled to believe that Garnacho didn’t pass.

Speaking at half-time, Shearer said: “So he should have, yeah. If you decide to go for goal like he did, it has to hit the back of the net.
“But, really good play by Man United again, they find themselves in that position, but just have a look at Bruno and at Hojlund in the middle – watch Hojlund’s reaction, look.

“Rightly so, he should go absolutely mad at him because that goes to 3-0, it’s game over.
Lineker interrupted: “Alan Shearer, would you have hit that?”
Shearer: “Well I would put it in the net, and if you don’t like that then you deserve a right telling off.
“As I said, the reaction from Hojlund, you can see the two of them in the middle – knock it across the front of the goal and it’s an easy tap in for Bruno or for Hojlund.”
Of course, that moment did quickly come back to bite Man United in the second half when they quickly drew level at 2-2.
And whilst £50k-a-week Garnacho is enjoying excellent development under ten Hag of late, there’s clearly a tweak to be made in his decision making.
As he pointed out, Alan Shearer would have been going crazy were he in Fernandes’ shoes, United should have had an easy goal.
Away from today’s game, it now seems that Man United could hand out an unexpected contract renewal this month.
