Alan Shearer includes three Liverpool players in his Team of the Week

Alan Shearer opted to select three Liverpool stars when naming his Premier League Team of the Week.

The Reds secured an emphatic 3-0 victory away to Arsenal on Saturday, as they totally dominated at the Emirates Stadium.

It means they are now sat seventh in the table only three points behind fourth, something which seemed a long way off a few weeks ago

Shearer picked Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota and Fabinho as his Liverpool contingent in his Team of the Week for the Premier League’s official website.

£75,000-a-week (Spotrac) right-back Alexander-Arnold was given particular high praise for his individual performance, as he responded to being left out of the England squad during the recent international break.

Meanwhile, attacker Jota got two goals off the bench, and Fabinho was a rock in the midfield.

“His performance was the best possible response to being left out of the England squad. He should be in the next one,” he wrote about Alexander-Arnold.

“Had a huge impact, coming off the bench to score twice. His return from injury has rejuvenated Liverpool’s attack,” he wrote about Jota.

“A solid performance. His move back into midfield has restored Liverpool’s stability,” he wrote about Fabinho.

TBR’s View:

If Alexander-Arnold doesn’t make the England squad, it shows how much talent there is in the full-back position in English football.

The trio of Kieran Trippier, Kyle Walker and Reece James were all part of Gareth Southgate’s group in the recent Three Lions squad, while the Liverpool ace was omitted.

But the Reds right-back is the best crosser from the bunch, albeit he can at times be a little suspect defensively.

It’s worth noting though that none are faultless with their back to goal, so it’s going to be intriguing to see if Southgate opts to overlook someone with Alexander-Arnold’s ability on the ball, especially if he can finish the campaign strongly at Anfield.
