Alan Shearer in awe of ‘outrageous’ Tottenham dipslay from Harry Kane

Alan Shearer has given a glowing verdict of Tottenham forward Harry Kane after his performance at the weekend.

The 27-year-old was instrumental for a Spurs side that raced into a three-goal lead inside 16 minutes against West Ham, albeit the visitors pulled off a remarkable late comeback to rescue a point in a 3-3 draw.

Kane produced a lofted through ball to assist teammate Heung-Min Son for the opener, with the duo striking quiet the partnership at the beginning of the season.

The England captain scored a quick-fire double that started with a low driven shot on the edge of the box and he added another with a powerful header.

It may be of little consolation to him right now after dropping points in the Premier League, but his individual form at the beginning of the campaign has been sensational.

The centre-forward has played nine games across all competitions, scoring 10 goals and supplying eight assists in return.

Shearer included him in his team of the week following his latest display and hailed him as “outrageous”.

“An outrageous all-round performance which had everything. He scored two fantastic goals, produced a glorious pass for Heung-Min Son’s strike and made a great last-ditch block in his own box,” Shearer told the Premier League’s official website.

TBR’s View:

Kane is scoring goals for fun right now like Spurs fans are used to seeing, but he’s added something to his game and at the age of 27 is still improving.

The striker is still getting into plenty of goalscoring positions, but his tally of eight assists in nine games shows he’s becoming a creator as well and that can be seen by the way he dropped into a number 10 role so often against West Ham.

He’s proving doubters wrong that claimed he would struggle in a Jose Mourinho side and he’s arguably started this new season in some of the best form of his life.
