Alan Shearer raves about 'very good' Arsenal talent who gave Newcastle 'a torrid time'

Alan Shearer has heaped praise on Arsenal flyer Bukayo Saka for his goalscoring performance in Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Newcastle.

He has named the Arsenal talent in his Premier League Team of the Week after opening the scoring for the Gunners.

Saka was on hand to score his third goal of the season in all competitions, with Gabriel Martinelli setting the seal on the victory.

The result meant that Newcastle have now failed to win any of their opening 13 games of the 2021/22 campaign.

For Arsenal, it keeps them in the mix to compete for the top-four and face a real test of their credential against Manchester United later this week.

Saka could be out of that one though. He went off injured at the weekend and could now be missing for a few weeks.

Under Mikel Arteta, the youngster has developed into a fine player, becoming integral for Arsenal and England.

Shearer was mightily impressed with Saka, despite the 20-year-old helping to beat his beloved Newcastle.

He told the Premier League official website: “He gave Newcastle’s defence a torrid time and scored a very good goal before going off injured.”

Important: Arsenal will have fingers crossed for Saka

The youngster is set to be sent for a scan and that doesn’t seemingly bode well for Arsenal.

Saka is in fine form right now and at 20 he still has bags of time left ahead of him in the game.

Arsenal will have real ambitions of getting back into Europe this season and losing Saka could be a huge detriment.

Saka has made 103 appearances for the Gunners, scoring 14 goals and claiming 23 assists.

He can play in a number of positions and perhaps crucially gives Arsenal energy that other players aren’t capable of.

Arteta will have everything crossed that Saka won’t be missing for too long.
