Alan Shearer picked out Leeds United’s Pascal Struik for big praise after his performance on Sunday against Manchester United.

The 21-year-old helped the Whites keep a clean sheet over the weekend during their impressive 0-0 draw in the Premier League against Man United.

Struijk, who moved to Elland Road in 2018, is a rising talent that many expected to be on the fringes of the squad this year while he develops his game at such a young age.

However, the left-footed defender has ended up becoming a key player for the Yorkshire club, making 24 first-team appearances across all competitions this season.

He’s started four of the last six league games, and his reputation is growing.

Shearer named the centre-back in his latest team of the week, highlighting his passing as an impressive part of his game.

“He was solid and reliable and his passing was superb as Leeds United picked up another point against one of the big boys,” Shearer told the Premier League’s official website.

If you consider his inexperience right now, Struijk could turn out to be one hell of a player in a few years time after he’s got a few seasons under his belt of Premier League experience.

He’s already a ball-playing centre-half that is comfortable starting in Marcelo Bielsa’s XI, where he can be brave in possession.

As well as being a modern centre-back, he also has the physical traits of an old school defender with his height, physicality and aggressiveness in the way he approaches games.
