Alan Shearer uses seven words to react to sublime Newcastle player’s performance at Norwich

Newcastle United cruised to victory at Norwich City today as their Brazilian duo of Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes fired them to a big win in East Anglia.

The Magpies have gone from relegation contenders to now looking like finishing in the top ten. It’s been a remarkable turnaround from Eddie Howe and his team, and the January signing of the aforementioned Guimaraes has been key.

Once again, the South American was instrumental today at Carrow Road but it was the performance of his fellow Brazilian, Joelinton, which caught the eye just as much. Joelinton scored twice in the first half to cap a fine run of form in the last few months and he played with the confidence of a man enjoying his football.

Watching it with interest once again today was Newcastle legend, Alan Shearer. And Shearer was straight on his social media account as Joelinton scored his second, as he tweeted out a message about the Newcastle star.

Shearer is certainly a much happier camper of late. Having watched on in angst at the Mike Ashley reign and some abject performances in Steve Bruce’s tenure, the Newcastle legend is now loving life as a Toon fan.

What a stunning turnaround from Joelinton this has been. He looked down and out under Bruce but the resurrection under Eddie Howe has been quite extraordinary.

He now looks like a top, top Premier League player and that £40m that once looked so expensive is becoming more and more of a bargain as time ticks by.

Certainly, if you’re impressing Alan Shearer on a weekly basis, then you’re doing something right in Newcastle.
