Premier League legend Alan Shearer is the latest high-profile pundit to lavish praise on Arsenal star Thomas Partey, after the Ghanaian starred against Manchester United on Sunday.

The Gunners took all three points against their old enemy, with Pierre-Emerick Aubmeyang converting a second-half penalty after Paul Pogba fouled Hector Bellerin in the area.

Mikel Arteta has been hailed for his tactical set-up and bold selections, with the inclusion of Mohamed Elneny ultimately proving a stroke of genius by the Spaniard.

He and Partey were tireless in midfield, pressing relentlessly the whole game to restrict United’s creativity.

£45 million signing Partey was an amazing driving force in the match, and Shearer said of the 27-year-old: “Partey was magnificent and looks to be developing a great partnership with Mohamed Elneny. He could prove to be a brilliant signing.”

That was only his fourth appearance in the red of Arsenal, but the former Atletico Madrid man looks to have nailed down a starting berth already.

TBR’s View – Magnificent Partey will be huge signing

Partey has the potential to perhaps become Arsenal’s most influential signing in many, many years.

There have been early mentions about the likeness to Patrick Vieira, and there are certainly similarities.

The Gunners have never replaced the legendary Frenchman, but if anyone can ever come close to doing that, it will be Partey.

At 27 years old, the player is just coming into his peak years so Arteta won’t be waiting too long for the player to get to the very top of his game.
