Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer is desperate for January signing Miguel Almiron to force his way into the starting XI and show supporters what he can do.
As reported by the BBC, the Magpies forked out around £20million last month to bring the attacking midfielder to St James’ Park from MLS club Atlanta United.
He is now the club’s most expensive signing and there is pressure on him to make an immediate impact in the North East.
The left-footed ace has proven his qualities in the MLS, but is now set to take on the elite in the Premier League.
“He is at a brilliant football club, and if he can do well there he will be absolutely loved,” Shearer told Sky Sports.
“Hopefully it won’t take him long before he can get in the team and start showing the fans what he can do.”
Almiron has all Newcastle fans excited before even kicking a ball and Shearer has hit the nail on the head that he needs to try hit the ground running.
The Paraguay international already has immense pressure on him to perform and he’s expected to add the creative flair going forward.
He usually plays in the number 10 role and the wish will be that he can link up with Newcastle striker Salomon Rondon.
Almiron scored 22 goals and supplied 21 assists in 70 appearanes for Atlanta United, but is now set to feel a new type of pressure that will either be the making of him or crush him.
