BBC pundit Alan Shearer hailed Dele Alli’s return to form for Tottenham in their 3-2 victory over West Ham on Saturday, Jose Mourinho’s first game in charge.
Mourinho put Alli in the number ten role behind skipper Harry Kane and Shearer told the Sun he was impressed by what he saw.
Shearer said: “In Dele Alli [Mourinho] has an exceptional talent who is on his way back after a dip. Dele’s upturn in form started before Saturday and against West Ham — who were embarrassingly bad — he was better still.
“Playing behind Kane in the number ten position he caused problems throughout the game. The Hammers just couldn’t get to grips with him. They didn’t know whether to get tight or not and in the end they just couldn’t handle him.”

TBR’s View – Having Dier back behind him may help Alli out
Eric Dier and Alli broke into Tottenham’s midfield together and the former can provide the platform for the latter to go on and influence matches.
Dier is not the most inspiring player and his reputation has declined in the past year but he is the type of anchorman Mourinho adores and could give his good mate the chance to fly forward.
