'Arsenal's game-changer': Alan Shearer in awe of 'relentless' Gunners player post Brentford

Alan Shearer has been singing the praises of Gabriel Jesus today after Arsenal hammered Brentford in their own back yard.

The Gunners put the Bees to the sword with a fine display of attacking football while the defensive side of their game was also much improved. For Arsenal, it was a huge win and a way to shut up the home crowd who had seen all the build up before the game focussed on Ivan Toney’s England call.

And according to Alan Shearer, there was only one striker worth watching this afternoon, as the former England man raved about new Arsenal striker Jesus.

“Gabriel Jesus has been brilliant since joining from Manchester City in the summer, and with four goals and three assists so far only Erling Haaland (with 11) has been involved in more Premier League goals than him this season,” Shearer wrote for the BBC.

“We’ve seen Arteta improve the likes of Xhaka, who showed great desire and determination against Brentford, but Jesus is Arsenal’s real game-changer for me. His move was seen as his opportunity to be the main man after often being on the bench at City and he has certainly taken it so far.

“Jesus is already a huge part of what Arsenal are about now – it’s not just his goals and creativity that make him so important to them, it’s his relentless energy and willingness to run in behind defences too.”

TBR’s View: Jesus Looking World Class

Brazil must have some seriously good attacking players if they can leave out Gabriel Jesus and the rest of contingent at Arsenal. But their loss is the Gunners’ gain.

Jesus has been outstanding all season and he is looking every bit the class everyone knows he can be. He really is shining at Arsenal as the main man and after biding his time at Manchester City, he’s now showing everyone just how good he can be. Shearer, then, is right to be in awe of the Gunners forward.
