talkSPORT presenter Alan Brazil has urged his former club Manchester United to make a move for Aston Villa star John McGinn.
McGinn was linked with the Red Devils in the summer, and legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson threw his backing behind the 24-year-old midfielder (The Sun).

McGinn’s stock has soared since he joined Villa in the summer of 2018 from Hibernian, and he is now a huge crowd favourite at Villa Park.
The ace has been the club’s standout player in the Premier League so far, contributing three goals and one assist – WhoScored have awarded him as many as five ‘star man’ ratings for club and country so far.
McGinn stole the headlines on Sunday evening as he hit a hat-trick against San Marino for Scotland.

Speaking about the rising star, Brazil – who had two seasons at Old Trafford – said on his own Sports Breakfast show: “He’s top class for me. I love that he works his socks off and is busy all the time. He’s got a great engine.
“Without a doubt [he’s a good fit for United].
“McGinn would get the Old Trafford crowd going for a start, just with his energy and enthusiasm, and his ability.”
TBR’s view
Villa fans will hope United have their attention fixed elsewhere come January, because McGinn will be crucial to the club’s hopes of staying in the Premier League.

The most realistic supporters will know that McGinn – should he keep up this level of performance – will not be around for years to come such is his quality, but they will still hope he isn’t poached mid-season.
As Brazil suggests, United are lacking energy and quality in midfield and McGinn could be a signing that the Red Devils faithful get behind with his brilliant workhorse nature.
