Alan Brazil and Ray Parlour discuss flashpoints in Arsenal’s win over Leeds United

TalkSport pair Alan Brazil and Ray Parlour felt that Sokratis and Alexandre Lacazette were let off the hook in Arsenal’s 1-0 FA Cup win over Leeds.

The duo couldn’t believe Sokratis got away with grabbing the leg of an opponent late on, while Lacazette was inexplicably excused despite VAR showing he clearly kicked out.

Brazil said: “The officials, Sokratis on the far side… he’s got a hold of the Leeds guy’s leg and he’s got his arms round his leg, the linesman is a yard from him. Put your flag up! I don’t get it any more. Lacazette had a free whack at someone. He could easily have gone (too), Lacazette.”

Parlour added: “There was a couple of dodgy tackles as well, which should have been in the book straight away. Anthony Taylor let a lot go, he really did.”

TBR’s View – Lacazette decision was absolutely mystifying

VAR has had an awful season but one of the things it should be useful for is citing incidents like Lacazette’s which can easily be missed by a referee.

But Lacazette was seen on camera kicking out and no action was taken. That can’t be right in the era of VAR and it may well have cost Leeds last night.
