AFC Bournemouth winger Arnaut Danjuma is close to joining Villarreal despite admitting he wanted to join Leeds United.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Championship winger has a ‘total agreement’ with the La Liga side.

Villarreal will pay £20m for Danjuma, who last season was one of Bournemouth’s best performing players.

Multiple sides were interested in Danjuma this window. Yet the 24-year-old forward said in an interview with Voetbal International that he would have loved to join a club like Leeds.

However, Villarreal have won the race for the Nigerian-born winger.

As per Fabrizio Romano, the attacker and his agent will fly out to Spain today to complete a move to the UEFA Champions League side.

Danjuma will be part of Unai Emery’s side who will be aiming to crack the top four of La Liga.

The Spanish club impressed earlier in the season against Chelsea in the UEFA Super Cup. Villarreal took the west London side to penalties after drawing 1-1 with Thomas Tuchel’s side in Dublin.

With Leeds aiming to sign an attacker this window, Danjuma’s move to Villarreal will be a blow for the Whites. Especially with the winger admitting this summer that he would have been joining Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
