AGF loan move could actually be helpful in Rangers’ pursuit of Kamil Grabara

Earlier this week it was reported that Rangers were interested in the services of young Liverpool goalkeeper Kamil Grabara. The report, from The Express, claimed Steven Gerrard is a big fan of the 21-year-old stopper and saw him as a potential long-term option at Ibrox.

Despite Rangers already having several goalkeeper options, Grabara would have been an exciting addition considering his apparent talent.

However, any January plans for the player have to be shelved. Grabara has headed out on loan from Liverpool over the weekend to play regular football in Denmark.

He has joined the Superliga side AGF Aarhus in Denmark until the end of the season. It is hoped he will play regular football at the club, who are currently 10th in the standings.

Despite this move, Rangers should undoubtedly keep tabs on the player.

Rangers’ need for a new goalkeeper is hardly pressing. Allan McGregor is having a great season whilst Wes Foderingham is a top option in reserve. Scotland under-21 star Robby McCrorie is also an option whilst Jak Alnwick remains on loan at Scunthorpe United.

Grabara would have been seen as a player for the future by Gerrard and this loan deal will actually give Rangers a chance to see how he performs in a first-team environment. In that way, it could actually be seen as a positive.

If he impresses, then a move in the summer would be wise from Rangers and Gerrard. If not, then perhaps he is not what is needed at Ibrox.
