Bernard’s agent has told Italian website LaRoma24 that he will look to secure a move away from Everton for his client in the January transfer window after failing to do so in the summer – and claims that he could be sold by Everton for just £6.5million.
Bernard, 28, has struggled since joining Everton in the summer of 2018 on a free transfer after leaving Shakhtar Donetsk. He has managed just six goals in 68 appearances for the Merseyside outfit – laying on seven assists.
The Brazil international remains at the top of Everton’s wage bill on a whopping £120,000 (Spotrac) alongside the likes of Yerry Mina and James Rodriguez. He has two years left on his contract, but is seemingly becoming another expensive flop.
The attacking midfielder was linked with Roma towards the end of the window and Bernard’s agent Adriano Spadoto has stated that Everton would not let Bernard join Roma – even on loan. He also claimed that he will try to secure a move in January.
“We tried to convince Everton to let him go, but the English club did not agree. Not even on loan,” Spadoto said, when asked about Roma’s interest on deadline day. “I think so [January exit], the player could be sold for around €7million [£6.5million].”

TBR’s view – Bernard is too expensive to keep as a fringe player
Everton’s decision to keep him on deadline day is a strange one. He is certainly first choice and when the likes of Richarlison or James Rodriguez do not play, Alex Iwobi, Anthony Gordon and Gylfi Sigurdsson are probably consider first.
Yes, on his day, he is an excellent player with huge creativity and an eye for goal. But that has been shown far too rarely in an Everton shirt, especially considering his wage – so Everton need to cash in and they must do so in January.
