The agent of Newcastle United’s latest signing Valentino Lazaro has told Italian outlet FC Inter News that he expects his client will return to Inter Milan at the end of his loan – despite having a £20million permanent clause in the loan deal.
Lazaro, 23, joined Newcastle on loan until the end of the season last week – becoming Newcastle’s second signing this month after Nabil Bentaleb joined from Schalke. The Chronicle claims a deal can be made permanent for £20million.
The 28-time Austria international has been allowed to leave with Antonio Conte bringing in experienced Premier League players in Ashley Young and Victor Moses. Lazaro offers plenty of cover on either flank, but predominantly the right.
Speaking about a future move, Lazaro’s agent Max Hegmayr claims that the former RB Leipzig star is unlikely to join Newcastle on a permanent basis in the summer – claiming Lazaro’s first option is to return to Inter.
“The player’s first choice is to return to Inter. With more time available he wants to demonstrate that he can help the Nerazzurri club to win the Scudetto,” Hegmayr side.
TBR’s view – Time will tell if Newcastle should try and keep Lazaro
A player of his quality, Lazaro is likely to impress Newcastle and will not only provide cover, but will certainly improve them if his CV is anything to go by. But only game time will show if Newcastle can make a good signing, or should forget the clause.
If, after 10 games, Lazaro has impressed Newcastle fans and the hierarchy alike, then they should look to convince the new player to move permanently. It seems, though, they have a difficult task on their hands.
