Arsenal have enjoyed a fruitful transfer window, signing a host of exciting players with a few more set to join soon.

Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga have all joined Arsenal over the past few weeks.

Viktor Gyokeres and Cristhian Mosquera are also expected to link up with Arsenal in the coming days.

However, there will always be those who slip through the net, with one Arsenal target’s camp now in talks with London rivals Chelsea.

Chelsea in talks with Arsenal target Jorrel Hato

The player in question is Jorrel Hato, who has made a real name for himself at Ajax over the past few years.

TBR Football understands that Arsenal like Hato and have held talks with Ajax over a deal for the 19-year-old, who is said to be valued at £40million.

Indeed, TBR Football understands that Hato sees Arsenal as a near-perfect destination for his next career step.

Liverpool have also expressed an interest in Hato, but the player’s agent has now confirmed that talks are in full swing with Chelsea.

Fabrizio Romano relayed the news on his X account, with Hato’s agent telling De Telegraaf: “Yes, it’s true – Chelsea have contacted Ajax.

“The only thing I can say is that Jorrel is now in talks with Chelsea.”

Last month, TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey confirmed that Chelsea were ‘pushing hard’ to sign Hato.

Arsenal at risk of missing out on one of the world’s best young footballers

Arsenal are now at risk of missing out on a footballer who is among the best youngsters in the world.

In March, Goal.com published their NxGn 2025 list, which features who they deem to be the 50 best young players in world football.

Hato was ranked in ninth place, one place behind Myles Lewis-Skelly and three behind his Arsenal teammate Ethan Nwaneri.

They wrote that Hato ‘has grown into one of the best defenders in the Eredivisie while also showcasing his versatility by playing all across the backline before settling in at left-back this season.’

They continued: ‘He is both comfortable in possession and able to mix it physically despite not having an imposing stature, meaning he has everything needed to one day become an elite centre-back.

‘That combination of attributes, combined with the maturity that has come from his extended exposure to top-flight football, means that Hato is not short of suitors, with Arsenal and Liverpool thought to be at the front of the queue as the summer approaches.’
