Lautaro Martinez’s agent has strongly hinted that the striker is close to signing a new contract with Inter Milan having been linked with a move to Tottenham.

Speaking to TV Play via Fabrizio Romano, Alejandro Camano revealed that an agreement could soon be reached with the Nerazzurri over a new deal, with Martinez expected to stay with the Italian giants.

The agent said on Martinez’s future: “I feel we’ll reach an agreement for a new deal at Inter, very good agreement for both sides. He’s 100% focused on Inter.”

Tottenham were heavily linked with a move to Martinez this summer as the north London side looked to sign a marquee striker to replace Harry Kane.

However, a move wasn’t to be as the Argentine international stayed at Inter, with Martinez enjoying a fantastic season as the club’s new captain alongside new strike partner Marcus Thuram.

Indeed, a Premier League move has always felt likely for Martinez, with Chelsea also reportedly interested in the £70m-rated forward, though this update could end any hope of a potential move.

Martinez is forming quite a legacy for himself at the San Siro with Inter, and whilst a move to England with Tottenham would have been fun, the attacker is making a good decision in staying at the San Siro.

It’s clear that Martinez loves Inter and enjoys playing for the club and in Italy, and with the striker now captain, leaving now would feel like a disrespectful move, especially after what happened with Romelu Lukaku.

And for Tottenham, missing out on Martinez isn’t the end of the world, with the north London side having plenty of options to spend big in January on a true successor for Kane.

Moreover, there are more realisitic targets for Tottenham to sign than Martinez, who was always going to be a hard player to acquire given his incredible record with Inter and Argentina.
