Leeds United legend Ian Harte, who is the agent of current Whites winger Jack Clarke, has said that the teenager will not be leaving Elland Road this month, as per TeamTalk.

In response to a journalist linking Clarke with a move away before tomorrow night’s deadline, Harte tweeted: “Just to keep you updated. Jack will be staying at Leeds and wants to get the club back to where it belongs!”

Clarke’s eye-catching form has attracted admirers across the top flight, with Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham, Crystal Palace and Southampton all named as having an interest in the teenage wideman.

It is little surprise that there has been keen interest in Clarke’s future after the way he has made himself a key part of Leeds’ promotion push under Marcelo Bielsa, but Harte’s comments should settle any nerves among the fanbase that he would stun the club by leaving this month.

Leeds have been heavily linked with an improvement in wide areas, with Daniel James of Swansea chief among the names reportedly in the frame for an Elland Road switch.

But Clarke staying is an even bigger boost than James arriving would be – it underlines the direction Leeds are heading in, and losing one of their own at the late stage of the window with the business end of the season approaching would have been a hammer blow to the growing momentum around the club.
