It appears West Brom are ready to shift Oliver Burke this winter. The Scottish talent joined the club from RB Leipzig for a reported by the BBC to be in the region of £15 million in August 2017.
However, he has struggled to have any impact at the Hawthorns. Even since the Baggies relegation to the Championship, he has barely featured. Now, according to The Sun on Sunday (14/10/18; pg 61), West Brom are willing to move him on – with Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United mentioned.
But should the team who first brought him through try bringing him back themselves.

At the start of the 2016-17 season, Burke had scored four goals in the opening seven games of the Championship for Nottingham Forest. Unfortunately for Forest, that gained the attention of German big spenders, RB Leipzig. According to the Daily Mail, the Bundesliga side spent £13 million that August to sign the player. He left less than 24 hours scoring twice in a 4-3 win over Burton Albion.
Nottingham Forest fans were understanding of the player’s predicament. Forest were lacking direction under former chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi and the chance to play in the Bundesliga was too good to turn down.
But it has clearly not worked out for the player. However, he remains just 21-years-old and a return to home comforts could see him relish a chance in the Championship.
Nottingham Forest might struggle to afford an outright deal, but a loan spell is surely a possibility. Burke would no doubt be welcomed back, especially if he could rediscover his incredible from 2016-17.
